Every coffee that wasn't oily dark roast, would taste sour. In the end, it is a machine that was intended to be used with the pressurized portafilter. So is it worth the upgrade? The Classic is really difficult to source where I live (Ireland; not made any easier due to current circumstances), but one just popped up on a local site (pre-2015 model with the steam wand upgrade). Steaming can be improved by upgrading to a rancillo steam wand. Thou I will agree on temperature. However you can hack it. I found some posts on another forum that said Delonghi warranty techs didn't even both fixing the Dedica, it was simply replace - not worth the techs time.
